When you book the Andaman Wave Master ferry from Phuket or Krabi to Phi Phi, you choose a seat class: Standard, First or Premium. All three classes travel on the same ferry at the same time. What changes is which deck you sit on, the type of seat, and whether coffee and snacks are included. On a crossing of about two hours, you will notice the difference. Here is how to pick the one that suits you.

Quick answer
| Class | Where | Seats | Coffee, tea & snacks | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Lower deck | Car-style seats (no reclining) | Not included | Travellers who want to watch the sea from the outdoor deck, or worry about seasickness |
| First | Middle deck, front | Sofa seats | Free | Travellers who want a comfortable sofa and a coffee on the way |
| Premium | Upper deck | Sofa seats, toilet on the same deck | Free | Travellers who want to relax on a sofa on the top deck, or are travelling with older family members |

What the class does not change
The following are the same in all three classes:
- The boat, departure time and arrival time
- The outdoor deck: passengers in every class can go out and enjoy the sea view
- Hotel pickup and the meeting point at the pier
- Luggage allowance: one bag up to 25 inches plus one small bag per person
- Booking deadline and cancellation rules
So choose your timing from the timetable first, then choose your class by how you want to spend the two hours on board. Timetables and meeting points are in our Phuket to Phi Phi ferry timetable guide.
Standard — lower deck, basic seats

Standard seats are in the air-conditioned cabin on the lower deck. The seats are like car seats and do not recline. For a two-hour trip, most travellers are perfectly comfortable, and you can step out onto the outdoor deck whenever you like to watch the sea. Because the lower deck of a boat usually moves less, it is also a sensible choice if you worry about seasickness.
First — middle deck, sofas and coffee

First class has sofa seats at the front of the middle deck, with free coffee or tea and snacks. It suits travellers who leave their hotel early and want to relax with a coffee on board, or couples who want to chat comfortably on the way.
Premium — sofas on the top deck

Premium has sofa seats on the upper deck, with a toilet on the same deck, and free coffee or tea and snacks. It suits travellers who want a proper rest on board, or a relaxed trip with older parents.

TripRAON tips
- Want a different class each way? Book two one-way tickets instead of a return. A return ticket uses one class in both directions. For example, relax in First with a coffee on the morning boat, then come back in Standard.
- Children aged 3 and under travel free on the ferry and do not get their own seat. They sit on a parent’s lap, so with a baby, the sofa seats in First or Premium make the trip much easier.
- Worried about seasickness? On most boats, the lower deck near the middle moves the least. Look at the horizon rather than your phone, step out onto the outdoor deck for fresh air if you need it, and if you use seasickness tablets, take them before boarding.
Before you go
- Choose your class in the options of the booking form. Your class is shown on your voucher.
- Luggage is the same in every class: one bag up to 25 inches plus one small bag per person. Speedboats allow smaller bags — up to 18 inches.
- The Tonsai Pier fee on Phi Phi is not included and is paid in cash on arrival.
- For pickup times, meeting gates and booking deadlines, see the timetable guide and each ticket page.
FAQ
Do the classes leave at different times?
No. All three classes travel on the same ferry and leave and arrive at the same time. Only the deck and seats differ, and passengers in every class can use the outdoor deck.
Can I book a return with a different class each way?
A return ticket uses one class in both directions. To mix classes, book two one-way tickets (outbound and return).
Does my baby need a seat class?
Children aged 3 and under travel free on the ferry and sit with a parent, without their own seat. Children aged 4 to 11 pay the child fare and use a seat in the class you choose.
